Welcome <3

Hi everyone!

My name is Sarah Kwidzinski, but since it's quite the mouthful I am often referred to as a combination of the two: Skwid. As an average college student with a love for plants, Skwid's Green House is a place to share my experience learning how to be a lazy, but successful, plant parent.

I have been a plant fanatic since sixth grade, wanting to collect as many succulents as I could get my hands on! My limited knowledge lead to some pretty questionable plant care, but, through the many trials of plant parenthood, I continued to learn how to best support my plants to be happy and healthy. Over the past ten years, my interest in plants has persisted and I am now a proud mom to over thirty different houseplants. I never would have thought I was going to be someone with a plant blog one day, but here I am!

For more backstory as to why this blog does exist, it is important to note that I am a business student, currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in marketing. This semester I am taking a course overviewing digital and social media marketing, an area of marketing that I am interested in entering after receiving my degree. This blog is a way for me to get hands-on experience as a content creator, using some of the skills and insights discussed in class. When choosing a topic for my blog, I wanted to choose a subject that I was passionate about and would be equally interested in reading about. Seeing that plants have worked their way into my daily life, this seemed like an obvious choice.

I am by no means an expert on plant care or even a particularly skilled plant mom, but I have spent enough time, money, and energy to figure out a thing or two over the years. Hopefully, through this blog, I can help you save some of yours!

There are several topics I plan to include in my little plant diary. These include series of blog posts that...

  • Introduce my different species of houseplants

  • Introduce any new plants joining the plant army

  • Follow along with any propagation journeys

  • Share common houseplant care tips

  • Suggest plant parent hacks that work for me

As you can see, there are many things that I am looking forward to sharing with you and I am sure that this list will evolve as time goes on.

Sooooo I have done a lot of the talking at this point and I am interested in what you would like to see on this blog! If there are any suggestions or comments that you have, I would love if you would share them with me in the comments below!
